Community Patrol Stops Burglar in Avenue Road

Burglar Apprehended by Newlands CID Community Patrol

A burglar was caught by the Newlands CID Community Patrol in Avenue Road at 10:30 AM after a homeowner saw him jumping over a wall and stealing items from a neighbor's property. The homeowner quickly alerted the CID Emergency Whatsapp group, and patrollers were dispatched to the scene. Residents helped the patrollers track down the suspect, who was then detained by the officers. The suspect has been handed over to SAPS Rondebosch, and the victim is on their way to file a case.

Working Together for Success

These successful outcomes are a result of everyone working together. From the vigilant neighbor who spotted the burglar, to the quick response of the community group, to the hard work of the CID team (made up of volunteers and professionals), to the victim's cooperation in opening a case, and the swift action of Rondebosch SAPS in charging the suspect.
