Any property owner within the CID boundary that is an additional ratepayer (ie pays the CID contribution) may apply to become a member of the Newlands CID NPC.

You are not a member by default - to become a member, you need to fill out a membership application form. Only members can vote at meetings under the auspices of the Companies Act, so it's important to actively opt-in by completing the 2-page application form to have a say in CID activities.

Should a member be unable to attend the first members meeting, they may give another individual their proxy to attend and vote on their behalf, in terms of the Company’s MOI.

The board of directors is chosen by Newlands CID members at the first members meeting. Only members have voting rights at the first members meeting.

Non-members may attend the first members meeting and participate but cannot vote and as such have limited influence on the Newlands CID activities.
