Online Fraud Awareness meeting this Saturday, 24 August:

Please find below an open invitation from Lt. Colonel Fourie of Claremont SAPS, to all Claremont and Newlands residents.  This is confirmation of a message posted on our Emergency group last week.  

The meeting is aimed at anyone who would like to learn more about the pitfalls of transacting online and how to avoid them.  It is free and no RSVP is required.

•  10:00 to 10:15 Arrival

• 10:15 to 10:30       Welcoming, introductions and short overview of programme by Lt. Col. M. Fourie, Visible Policing Commander at SAPS Claremont: Fraud overview and                                  impact on Claremont

• 10:30 to 11:00       Colonel E. Terblanche: SAPS Technology and Innovation Centre: Cyber Crime and Prevention: Internal Fraud and Cellphone Notification Fraud.

• 11:00 to 11:30       Daya Moodley from South African Bank Risk Information (SABRIC) (assisted by major bank representatives): Phishing, Smishing, Online Fraud and                                       Mobile Banking Fraud.

• 11:30 to 12:00     Katy Rose from Rose Digital: Social Media Fraud and Facebook / website fraud. Identity Theft.
